Recruitment methods Essay Example for Free

Recruitment methods Essay The timeline that I have given myself for these positions although ambitious I believe is attainable. The plan for recruitment will be with the career centers at each of the local schools that provide these job training and degree programs, Career Builders.com as well as the local newspaper which also list their ads on Monster.com. The resumes will be required to have a cover letter detailing why our company should consider you for the job and your accolades that make you the best candidate for the job. By being so specific in the requirements for the cover letter, candidate will have an opportunity to boast about their personal achievements and detail any accomplishments thus, highlighting information in the resume. This will enable HR to then weed out the best ones after a comparison with the resume for the best candidates. Phone interviews will be the next step for candidates that have made it to that round followed up by skills test and in person interview (corporate, 2013). In Florida you have two factors at work, the first is the aging workforce and the second is the increase in the aging population (staff, 2010). The emerging Healthcare changes are not really affected one way or the other in nursing shortages. They are forecasted to remain the same with or without the Healthcare changes that are on the rise. Given that this is a clinic with Doctors in the setting and 3 RN’s one of which will be leaving. The HR department plans to replace that RN with a Certified Medical Assistant. In the state of FL a CMA can do many of the assignments that RN’s are tasked with in a clinic setting (Staff, 2013). Since there are already two RN’s that will be on staff anything that falls outside the focus of a CMA can be tasked to one of the RN’s on duty. This will be money saving for the clinic as currently RN’s make substantially more money than CMA’s (SOFL, 2007). The Patient Care tech as well will be replace by a CMA this pa y is pretty close to one another and the duties are close enough that the CMA can provide more flexibility for the clinic and still save dollars. The CMA programs in the State of Florida currently take six months to one year depending upon the school. Giving this consideration there are many more available CMA’s looking for work than RN’s. With the changing environment  in billing and coding all coders are required to be certified in ICD-10 by 2015. Giving this thought it was decided that the best thing to do was to bring in a contracted ICD-9 and 10 coder and have them train the current coder while completing work. This will keep the clinic in compliance with federal guidelines in the future. According to the CMS website ICD 10 coders must be certified by 2015 in order to transmit and code claims. By bringing in a certified ICD 10 coder the veteran coder can learn ICD 10 and prepare for their training as well, which is a requirement that is expected in 2014. This can fill the gap for needed coverage and combine training that will be required for future coding needs. Training will need to consist of leaders that will be asked to step up to the plate for training. These leaders will be valuable during the training process and acknowledged during the end of year evaluations. During a meeting to announce the new hires volunteers will be sought who are willing to share their expertise with new hires so that they can become valued employees and productive for the clinic. Over time will definitely be part of the phase in for the new employees and this will be discussed with the trainers as to the needs. The expected phase in process for the two new CMA’s should take about three months as they are going to already be experienced and it will only be a matter of learning clinic processes, guidelines and protocol. The plan for maintaining service while under these very stressful conditions will consist of a variety of things put into place by the HR department. It will also require buy in from the physicians and managers in order to gain the support of the staff. First will require skillful scheduling as to limit the overtime that might be needed by current employees. This will help to minimize burnout and fatigue by the current staff. The second item that will need to be put into place will be staffing meetings that discuss the needs, the availability over normal hours of staff as well as any other issues that the staff is seeing that needs to be addressed. And finally HR will need to put into place a de-stressor program to help alleviate some of the fatigue by the personnel. Some of these things can include simple low cost events like Sundae’s on Friday’s or luncheons that help to keep the  staff fueled and energized. Some other ideas might be a hero of the week program or me ntor of the week. By keeping staff morale at a high we can insure that productivity maintains high.

Speech on The Underworld in Greek Mythology :: Ancient Greece Greek History

Speech on The Underworld in Greek Mythology The Underworld, better known as Hades after the god who ruled it, was a dark and dreary place where the shades, or souls, of those who died lived. In the next few minutes, I will tell you about how one came to die, the topography of the Underworld, and the beings whom dwelled there. Your whole life was planned and plotted by the Fates. The Fates were the three goddesses who controlled the destiny of everyone from the time they were born to the time they died. They were: Clotho, the spinner, who spun the thread of a person's life, Lachesis, the apporitioner, who decided how much times was to be allowed each person, and Atropos, the inevitable, who cut the thread when you were supposed to die. When Atropos cut your thread you were dead and then you made your journey to Hades. Upon death, the shade is lead by Hermes to the entrance of the Underworld and to the banks of the Acheron. There were five rivers that made up the Underworld. They were the Acheron (the river of woe), Cocytus (the river of lamentation), Phlegethon (river of fire), Lethe (river of forgetfulness), and the Styx (river of hate). This poem, written by an anonymous writer, was written about the rivers in the Underworld. "Abhorred Styx, the flood of deadly hate, Sad Acheron of sorrow black and deep; Cocytus named of lamentation loud Heard on the rueful stream; fierce Phlegethon Whose waves of torrent fire inflame with rage. Far off from these a slow and silent stream, Lethe, the river of oblivion, rolls Her watery labyrinth, whereof who drinks Forthwith his former state and being forgets, Forgets both joy and grief, pleasure and pain." When one would die, the family would place one obol, or a coin, under the deceased's tongue. This coin would pay as fare to Charon who would ferry the dead over the Acheron River. Charon is the ferryman who is often depicted as an old sulky man, or as a winged demon carrying a double hammer. Those who cannot afford to pay Charon were doomed to wonder the banks of the Acheron River for one hundred years. Guarding the Underworld was the three-headed dog Cerberus. He permitted new spirits to enter, but never one to leave. When you arrived at the Underworld, three judges determined your sentence.

Case Study Project on Adult Development

Daniel Christian Smith was born on 11/28/1977 in Bossier City, Louisiana. He is a white Caucasian, 27 years old and not married yet- still looking for his dream-girl. Daniel comes from a relatively large family because he has a sister Sarah, 25, and brother, David, 28. The family served as a spring-board to the future for Daniel. His parents have taught him how to work hard, how to succeed and relate to people, that is why he owes all of his present success to them. Daniel’s parents are both teachers and the atmosphere in the family has always been very favorable for learning. Daniel mentions that he has felt knowledge running through his blood since the very first days when he was born.Daniel is a great professional in the information systems field at present but he needed to study very hard to obtain all of the skills which he possesses now. He finished school with honors, then attended technical college and finally got a degree in management at Louisiana State University of Shreveport. As Daniel mentions himself, he was already a highly-qualified professional in information systems when he got out of college. All of his friends and relatives lined up to his doors when their computers were broken. However, Daniel wanted to attend LSUS in order to obtain its diploma in management- that magic slip of paper which could say he was worth something in the business world. Studies at LSUS were particularly difficult for Daniel because he needed to work at three jobs in order to pay for college. As he remembers now, there were many nights when he thought he needed to give up because he was too exhausted but instead, he gathered all of his efforts and kept studying more.Today he can look back at all of the hardships which he had to go through and say that it was worth it. He is CIO at a large company now and has to travel a lot about the country to monitor the IT departments in different cities. Â  Daniel is planning to keep studying in future to obtain an MBA bec ause his promotion greatly depends on the educational background.Daniel’s psychological and biological characteristics are quite unique in many ways. He is a choleric and his neurotransmitters are not balanced at all. The reactions in his system go very fast and he is overly sensitive and emotional.Due to the personality type, Daniel’s endocrine system functions normally and all of the processes in his body go very fast. Unlike melancholic types who have very slow processes in their body, Daniel has very fast processes and endocrine system functioning on the highest level.Daniel has left prefrontal asymmetry which has a deep impact on all of his activities and abilities. Left prefrontal asymmetry enables him to be very good at subjects dealing with logics and analysis. He has always been skilful in sciences and mathematics because he could catch the teacher’s idea immediately. At the same time, this type of brain asymmetry has a negative impact on Daniel’s skills in such fields as arts and humanitarian subjects. It is usually much easier for Daniel to write a new computer program than deal with the interface of some application because design has never been an apple of his eye.He cannot be creative but instead can critically analyze large amounts of information. The type of job which Daniel is doing welcomes left prefrontal asymmetry. The only problem which he can face due to this kind of asymmetry is his relatively low abilities to manage people. The development of Daniel’s personality is going to occur very intensively during the next year. Changes are going to occur in his body, mental capacities, life perception, emotional ties, attitudes towards politics and his job. He got appointed as the company’s IT manager only a very short time ago, therefore his development will be happening very rapidly.First of all, Daniel is going to develop his professional skills greatly. He is going to learn how learn many new things an d develop his communication skills to a large extent. In the past, he needed to combine work with education and could not apply his skills to the fullest. During the next year, Daniel will be able to concentrate only on his responsibilities in the company and achieve much better results. Some change in values and interests of Daniel is also going to occur. During the period of time when a person enters a new level in his career, the re-evaluation of many values occurs. Family will become less important because more and more time will be devoted to work.Friends will also stop being a high priority because career will take all of the time. Daniel will realize that the higher he gets on the career ladder, he more he will have to work in order to be prosperous and successful. Daniel will also realize that the priorities in his life have changed greatly. If in the previous year he considered the diploma at the university the most important goal of his life, in the next year he is going to change his goal. Most likely, his strategic objective is going to become obtaining the position of the CEO of the company. This goal is quite realistic for Daniel, due to his strengths. The rapid development of Daniel is going to be caused for the most part by his strengths which will get even more emphasized in the following year. One of the greatest strengths which Daniel has is willingness to succeed. This quality will develop very much during the next year. Daniel always achieves his goals, no matter how difficult the road to success is. There are other strengths which Daniel possesses, such as good communication skills, high determination, and great problem solving skills, broad mind. He has a great ability to work in a team, good analytical skills, and lots of energy.Above all that, he has willingness and capability to achieve all the goals, ability to acquire new skills fast. All of these qualities are going to develop even more during the next year. For example, Daniel’ s problem solving skills are going to become much more advanced due to his work.Daniel does not have many weaknesses in comparison with the strengths which he possesses. His major weakness is orientation on his emotions more than on his brain. However, during the next year this weakness will disappear for the most part because Daniel will have to make many important decisions and he will need to base his judgments not on emotions but on his brain. Daniel’s managing skills will develop very much, despite his left prefrontal asymmetry due to large experience which he will gain.Daniel’s development will go even more rapidly during the next five years. His new responsibilities will have a very deep impact on his perception of life. Owing to success-orientation, Daniel is very likely to achieve the CEO position within 5 years.Such a major change in his life is going to influence his ideas about marriage. Daniel will choose a wife who can provide the most convenience to him. 32 years is the same when one of the crises for Daniel can occur, and he will probably want to secure himself by getting married and having children.Parenting is going to change many values which Daniel had and start a new stage in his life. However, Daniel has always been a workaholic, and his work is going to remain the greatest priority in his life. The predictions about the development of Daniel may not be completely accurate because some changes in lives are initiated by the individual himself while others are beyond his control. Some of the events which can shape his life greatly might never happen. For example, it is impossible to predict how his career promotion will go. It depends not only on Daniel and his abilities but also on the situation in the company and some sort of luck. The development of personality is mostly determined by major events which happen in the life of the person. It is possible to predict the events which might happen, but it is impossible to predict th em with a 100% probability.

What Is the Coriolis Effect

The Coriolis effect (also known as the Coriolis force) refers to the apparent deflection of objects (such as airplanes, wind, missiles, and ocean currents) moving in a straight path relative to the Earths surface. Its strength is proportional to the speed of the Earths rotation at different latitudes. For example, a plane flying in a straight line north will appear to take a curved path when viewed from the ground below. This effect was first explained by Gaspard-Gustave de Coriolis, a French scientist and mathematician, in 1835. Coriolis had been studying kinetic energy in waterwheels when he realized that the forces he was observing also played a role in larger systems. Key Takeaways: Coriolis Effect †¢ The Coriolis effect occurs when an object traveling in a straight path is viewed from a moving frame of reference. The moving frame of reference causes the object to appear as if it is traveling along a curved path.†¢ The Coriolis effect becomes more extreme as you move further away from the equator toward the poles.†¢ Wind and ocean currents are strongly affected by the Coriolis effect. Coriolis Effect: Definition The Coriolis effect is an apparent effect, an illusion produced by a rotating frame of reference. This type of effect is also known as a fictitious force or an inertial force. The Coriolis effect occurs when an object moving along a straight path is viewed from a non-fixed frame of reference. Typically, this moving frame of reference is the Earth, which rotates at a fixed speed. When you view an object in the air that is following a straight path, the object will appear to lose its course because of the rotation of the Earth. The object is not actually moving off its course. It only appears to be doing so because the Earth is turning beneath it. Causes of the Coriolis Effect The main cause of the Coriolis effect is the Earths rotation. As the Earth spins in a counter-clockwise direction on its axis, anything flying or flowing over a long distance above its surface is deflected. This occurs because as something moves freely above the Earths surface, the Earth moves east under the object at a faster speed. As latitude increases and the speed of the Earths rotation decreases, the Coriolis effect increases. A pilot flying along the equator itself would be able to continue flying along the equator without any apparent deflection. A little to the north or south of the equator, however, and the pilot would be deflected. As the pilots plane nears the poles, it would experience the most deflection possible. Another example of latitudinal variations in deflection is the formation of hurricanes. These storms dont form within five degrees of the equator because there is not enough Coriolis rotation. Move further north and tropical storms can begin to rotate and strengthen to form hurricanes. In addition to the speed of the Earth’s rotation and latitude, the faster the object itself is moving, the more deflection there will be. The direction of deflection from the Coriolis effect depends on the object’s position on Earth. In the Northern Hemisphere, objects deflect to the right, while in the Southern Hemisphere they deflect to the left. Impacts of the Coriolis Effect Some of the most important impacts of the Coriolis effect in terms of geography are the deflection of winds and currents in the ocean. There is also a significant effect on man-made items such as planes and missiles. In terms of affecting the wind, as air rises off of the Earths surface, its speed over the surface increases because there’s less drag as the air no longer has to move across the Earths many types of landforms. Because the Coriolis effect increases with an object’s increasing speed, it significantly deflects air flows. In the Northern Hemisphere these winds spiral to the right and in the Southern Hemisphere they spiral to the left. This usually creates the westerly winds moving from the subtropical areas to the poles. Because currents are driven by the movement of wind across the waters of the ocean, the Coriolis effect also affects the movement of the ocean’s currents. Many of the oceans largest currents circulate around warm, high-pressure areas called gyres. The Coriolis effect creates the spiraling pattern in these gyres. Finally, the Coriolis effect is important to man-made objects as well, especially when they travel long distances over the Earth. Take, for example, a flight leaving from San Francisco, California, that is heading to New York City. If the Earth did not rotate, there would be no Coriolis effect and thus the pilot could fly in a straight path to the east. However, due to the Coriolis effect, the pilot has to constantly correct for the Earths movement beneath the plane. Without this correction, the plane would land somewhere in the southern portion of the United States.
